I trade my car for ranger, a '94 extended cab splash. 3.0L auto, crap push button 4x4 and vacuum hubs (haven't checked it yet lol) shitty deal on my end, but it's more or less what I wanted. needs a fuel pump ($98 later for Autozone) and a windshield. and a mirror too. oh and the seat wont latch in position, it just slides around going down the road. looks like hell, needs a bedside. and paint too. I'll shut up and get to the pics

other questions, battery gauge stays all the way down, alternator looks like it was replaced recently. speedometer doesn't work i don't think but i could care less

Plans/ checklist:
get running good (fuel pump, clean MAF, plugs, wires?, fluid changes, ect)
replace fiberglass bed side (they just unbolt right?) bang out door dent/bondo
paint- blue interior so either dark blue with black bumpers/grille or flat black with gloss black bumper/grille
thrush welded muffler dumped in front of rear tire
stacked washer leveling kit
either 1" hockey puck body lift or 6 3" body lift blocks under the cab and something homemade under the bed (i got 6 3" blocks for free)
33x9.5x15 bfg A/T? 3.73 gears automatic 3.0? or is it sackless enough already?
straighten out the botched abortion of a stereo install from previous owner (17 year old goth girls shouldn't wire audio)
oh yeah....drive the piss out of it!

Sounds like large portions of a plan. I'd say gutless enough as is though. You don't need to further castrate it by putting 33s on it. At least be nice and re-gear if you do that.

doesnt look that bad man, i like the color.
i would recomend u some 31" tires, that way u wont kill it that much

31s go good with 3.73s and 3.0s? I'll probably stick with those then

quick questions will a 96 ranger power mirror fit my truck, are flareside mirrors really different? will the 96 grille fit my truck? the guy at the junkyard said neither would...

yeah the rust is heavy surface rust for now, i have a wire wheel for our grinder and a can of rustolium so that should help that issue. so I had to order a complete sending unit because I broke the steel lines on top, they were pretty rusty, and I'm getting a mirror and chrome grille tomorrow.
theres a set of 31" thornbirds for sale it town, almost new, $250, i think I'll get those and i can get a nice set of 235/75 for commuting for like $40. i need to find a cheap set of rims, run the thornbirds on one sets and the 235s on another.
my buddys looking at a junkyard for a flareside fender for me and a drivers seat. what could be broken on that drivers seat? it doesnt latch into position

from what ive heard most guys dislike thornbirds off road, you can do better for the money. looks like a good start though, guess i know what my truck would look like had i kept the original color after i went stepside.

I see rust on that frame, remove the bed and take a look

yeah i heard thornbirds suck but its not going to see much mud, maybe just a little :D
the bed is off right now, the crossmembers are flaking a bit but the frame is fine. if i use POR-15 do i still need to wirebrush my frame?

Yep,get the places you reach with the grinder, hand wire brush the rest.
Blow off the loose stuff with air if you have it.
Make sure there isnt any oil, grease where you put it down.

ok so i just put the new sending unit in and the damn lines are so loose they piss gas everywhere! what the hell man!!?? i put the coupling on, slide the clip in, and I can move the whole coupling 1/8" - 1/4" back and forth. what wrong with this picture???

problem solved, just threw some new o rings in, should have known better
got sending unit all in and it runs now! got the new grille put in and a new mirror to replace the broken one. its a textured gray one while the other side is smooth and color matched to the body. i want to spray them with some sort of textured paint so they match, any suggestions? I'm thinking about some bed liner in a spray bomb for the bumpers and might try it on the mirrors too.
ripped out the dumb speaker install. and need to straighten out that mess
i got the seat fixed, the latch doesn't return to closed position so if I move the seat I just have to reach under and close it, sucks but it works
now I need to put a windshield in it and I think it'll pass inspection, might need tires, but thats covered too
