anyone drag race their truck?

I've been wanting to drag race my truck. I know its a truck and all but im curious to see some numbers 1/8th, 1/4th, etc. Before I get too much crap for this, I plan on doing it legally at s New England Dragway street night.

So, if you've brought your ranger to the track, how'd it fare?
 
just do it.i thought about it lots when i was in mission 2 minutes away from the drag strip.they had(have)street night fridays,now that i'm nowhere near a strip i wish i had gone while i was there.it wouldn't matter what i brought,it's the getting together with like minded folks who just want to have some legal fun that counts.that,and the adrenaline rush.
 
i did it a couple times. its a truck and a 4 cyl one lol so it wont be a bullet. but its pretty fun.

i beat my cousins 00 celica gts by half car. his was auto tho, but supposed to have around 180hp.
my old(by him) truck beat his sports car with some CEL issues and 30" tires. lmao
 
my '92 4.0l ran a best of 16.8, the new SOHC trucks should do low 16s/high 15s. You'll find there are a lot of people at the track racing random stuff, I see a lot of trucks and suvs out on test n tune night.

Only problem I ever had was years ago, I was pulling up into the staging lane, and some older guy took a step out of the crowd and said "you have a CDL to drive that thing?" :icon_confused:

I used to run my little '89 with a hopped up 4 banger in the bracket races. I usually ran around 10.75 on an 1/8 mile track. You could run heads-up for fun or get into the brackets for money. My friends had a 4.0 splash and another had a 4.3 s-10 and always got spanked by the little 2.3. I done the bracket races a few times and once got into the finals, it was scary runnin my 11 sec ranger against a 5 sec dragster. I was almost to the finish line when I heard him take off and he blew past me in the last 20 ft or so of track. I was that close to winning $1500.
