Any NE Ohio / Western PA people coming out to this??SALEM — Hot rods and drag racing, it all comes together in 16 days at Quaker City Raceway and downtown Salem when the third annual Steel Valley Super Nationals thunders into town.
They’re billing it as “the biggest motorsports event in Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania” and as a “race all day and party all night” event.
For the third year, the Expert Tire Official After Party will be held in downtown Salem starting on Thursday, June 19 through Sunday, June 22.
There will be cruising all four days and the event, according to SVSN officials, has broken Quaker City Raceway attendance records “and triples the population of Salem for the weekend.”
Track gates open at 9 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday with racing starting at 10 a.m. each day and ending at 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Bike Day is Saturday and spectators pay $10 per day and participants pay $30 per day.
In Salem, action will be hard to miss with Bigfoot on display at Expert Tire Cobra GT race cars from Dyna-tech Racing at Donnell Ford.
Entertainment forums will be set in front of city hall for live bands while a stage will be located in the Butech parking lot across from Stooges and the Side Door with a DJ spinning tunes.
Another stage will be at Donnell Ford with an ’80s band Friday night.
The First Friends Church will host a children’s activities an another by the Greenford Christian Church is expected for the downtown.
Two burnout pits, one for cars and one for bikes will be located at Stadium GM on West State Street and at Fernangles Tavern on South Broadway Avenue where that bar has joined with the Side Door Lounge, which will hold a motorcycle rodeo.
Salem Oil and Santee Auto are sponsoring a Dyno Monitor for hot rodders wanting to see where their engines are as far as horsepower and torque. The Dyno Monitor will at the corner of Prospect Street and Newgarden Avenue on Friday and Saturday.
