Where and What Kind of Locker is cheapest?

Hey guys...I'm regearing my 8.8 to 4.56 and we will be putting in a open carrier. So I'm looking to get a lunchbox locker I believer (right? Haha) but I'm a lil tight on cash...lockright the way to go then? Or maybe Aussie? Or maybe...someone who has one laying around they need to get rid of :icon_cheers:

There lunchbox? They'll work with my open carrier without having to set everything up? Also what are they like for driving...I'm going to be putting it in my DD/Casual Offroader haha
 
Yeah, its a lunchbox, it takes place of your spider gears...I just installed one in a buddy's truck (railman) and he's been driving it for about 6 months now and he loves it, can barely tell he's got one until he gets on it and both tires grab...

If you're looking for cheap lock, Lincoln is the cheapest of them all.
 
I know, it's disappointing they don't make one for a 28 spline. I guess it's all the more reason to swap up to a 31 spline from an Explorer. :D
 
Yeah, If I already had a 28 spline 8.8 I probably wouldn't swap out to a 31 spline. But, in my case, I currently have a 7.5 rear end and I'd like to put the 95-01 Explorer axle in so I get the disc brakes out of the deal too!

Not sure if its the cheapest, but its the most reliable lunchbox....

I'd say the Lock-right and Aussie are equal quality wise, having had both I think the Aussie has better street manners, too bad they don't make one for the 28 spline 8.8...
 
I have had a Lockright in the rear since 2001 and a Lockright in the front since 2002. I daily drove it until 2004, drove it during snow days until 2006 and the entire time it has been used for offroad fun at parks and private land, fore hauling firewood out of the hills and through the woods and for skidding logs, pulling sleds, unsticking things--including my school bus and crewcab diesel. The lockers are not the weak link as long as you have set them up correctly.
