Just bought my youngest son a 1999 b4000 4x4 4.0 automatic, lots of miles but cream puff inside/out. Transmission been acting up (long delay before engaging from park to drive, slight hesitation between second, third gear shifting) Mechanically inclined friend test drove for a couple days, said 90% sure internal problem, recommended swapping for a gently used tranny with less miles. Problem is, I can't find a Mazda 4wheel drive auto transmission anywhere. Look online and shows Ford Ranger compatible. Can this be? Are these the same trannys, wiring harnesses, computer modules? Seems too good to be true, but would love the cheapest and most convenient solution. Please help. Any feedback would be wonderful. Thanks for your time.
