during what years was the Ford 2.9 engine made

From all the years the Ford Ranger 2.9 engine was made..

During what years will the ignition distributors and computers interchange and work on a 1987 Ranger 4x4, with a 2.9 engine and 5 speed tranny?

Will any years of the 4.0 ignition distibutors work on a 2.9?

The 2.9 was made from 86 to 92. The dis stem from any 2.9 should work on any other. For an 87 I'd be looking for an 86 or 87 computer, 88 added some codes and monitors and if you put an 88 computer in an 87 you piss off the computer (been there, done that, sets a code 59).

The 4.0 never had a distributor. It's been and EDIS engine from the beginning. Also, looks like you are having some keyboard problems there bud.
