This is my third Bronco II, the first was an 87, the second a 90 bought for parts, and now my third is an 89. When I bought it, it had 254,000 miles on it! The motor is a 93 Explorer 4.0L with 165,000 miles. It came with a 4" Duff lift with extended radius arms, long link traction bars, and superrunner steering.

As soon as I got it home I started tearing out the suspension and axles in favor of a Skyjacker 6" lift and a d35/8.8 combo from my parts B2

As soon as I got the suspension and axles in, I chopped the top off!

Now I am debating whether to fix the rust damage on my roof, or chop it completely, similar to an Early Bronco. I plan to cage it, but Im still a little worried about body flex if I chop it all the way. Here's some pics of the rust damage, what does everyone think?

holy cow thats bad. You could do what one guy did and put a standard cab ranger roof and back cab wall on it.

Ive only had it for a few months now, one of the previous owners painted it black(originally silver), then gave it to his brother who lived in Pacifica, California, which explains the rust. The first brother who painted it worked for Ford and also did the 4.0 swap on it too.

Thats a great looking B2, 04SD! Looks like you put a lot of time into that truck, thanks for the link! I have made quite a bit of progress since I last took pics, should have an update in a few days.

Ok so I finished most of the sheetmetal patching and filled in and reinforced the b pillars where I cut the roof. I also cut off the flanges where the windows were bolted on and welded up seams. Let me know what you guys think!

Next I plan on welding on bed corners from a ranger, and a home built swing-out spare tire rack/tailgate. Once that is on I am going to cage it. Then it should be ready for Hollister Hills! Please let me know what you guys think, ideas and input are always appreciated!
