Hi everyones, Great forum

I have a 83 4X4 Ranger, 4 speed manual trans, with a powerless 4 Cyl.
The engine is nearly gone, the trans have no more second speed. But the body is in really good shape for a 25 years old truck. So i plan to mak 5.0L Swap.

I have read a lot on this forum and i have some little question.

My plan was to buy a complete Ford F-150 truck(junkyard) and put all the engine/tran/tcase in the ranger with all the wiring and the computer. Get a 3 inch body lift kit. Maybe change the 2 little differential for 2 bigger one (8.8)

I know that i will have to put an oil pan and oil tube from a grand marquis on the engine

I will have tu buy a relocation oil filter kit

My questions is :
1- have you a better idea for a donor vehicule(i do not want to puchase a kit to fit the tran to the tcase)

2- Wath part was absulutely needed before a start the swap(V6 engine mounts, kit, etc)

i've all what's needed to repair a car(garage, hydraulic car lift, welder,Mitchell, Genesys, etc)
I have no trouble with electronic things in car....

for that kind of money i would suggest a 2wd. i think you can use v6 mounts you would just have to make the bracket for the engine side. i think you can use an explorer or 4.0 radiator. one question, is this a 2.0L or a 2.3? most trucks with a 2.0Liter engine didnt have power brakes, or power steering( it may not be bad now, but when you ad a 5.oL). other than that im not 100% sure, ive never done the swap myself but read a lot about it. but that transfer case install sound like a chore.

also if you have a carburated truck, its going to be a lot easier if you keep it carbed.

my truck as a 2.3 L engine with p-steering and p-brake

i know that is more trouble to do carb to efi swap but i have the time to do this. And it's not the trouble for me i have the righ tools to do the job. I want absolutely a 4X4 truck cuz a 4X2 truck in snow like hre it's just crap. Anybody have ever put a complete F-150 engine/tran/t-case into a Ranger ???

ah, the body is good. depends how much work you want to put in. i had a '86 i wanted to do the swap so bad, but with the truck i had it wasnt really worth it. i still had it until last week, gave it away to someone that was going to do the swap, made me feel good rather than junk it.
ps. how do you show pics?
