Dont remember the code number off the modus scanner but it was a erratic crank signal so i imagine thats the crank sensor?
Anyone have a picture of a 2.3 crank sensor? How difficult is it to replace?
truck has 220k on it, runs like crap but gets me where i gotta go.

Replacing the crank sensor wont be easy if the engine is in the vehicle. you will probably have to take the fan, belt, and shroud off because you will have to take off the crankshaft pulley off to get to the sensor. I dont have a picture but you should be able to see the sensor from directly in front of the engine and there is a plug right above the crankshaft pulley and that is where the sensor plugs into the wire loom. I hope this can help you but I wouldnt recommend doing it yourself unless you have some mechanical experience or have someone with mechanical experience helping you.

the crankshaft pulley and vane housing come off super easy, 4 bolts with 10mm heads, doesn't require taking out the large center bolt, this gives you enough access to the sensor to change it, you do need to take the timing belt cover off though. for whatever reason they route the wires for the crank sensor under the rear timing belt cover housing, when I changed mine I spliced it a couple inches from the sensor.
