I know with the SBF's they went to the torque to yeild head bolts and in some other applications. Use them once and throw away. Is that any concern from a certain year on or varies by motor? Probably not a concern for most.

i know for sure that the 2.9 and the 4.0 use TTY head bolts, im assuming 2.8 as well. other than that i dont know...

Head bolts are cheap. Just replace them every time.

I guess I posted so that some of the young ones would do the same and those them. I know I can visually identify them but used ARP or equvilent for years.

Head bolts are fairly cheap and they are all torque to yield and then toss because the bolts stretch under 125 ft-lbs with all the heating and cooling. But you best bet would be to buy head studs. They are readjustable and reusable, better for the money.

And make the engine much funner to work on in the truck...

2.8, 2.9 & 4.0 head bolts are Torque-to-yield

2.3/2.5 and 3.0 headbolts are reuseable.

Using new every time is a $40 expense you probably don't need.

Frankly I'd rather spend the $40 on a good bottle of booze
or a couple of new CD's for my music collection.
