The auto choke is long gone. Only parts for that removed were the heater itself and the idle advance equipment. I want to remove all of the spaghetti that I can. What else do you think can be pulled out and keep it as my DD?

It's a 1984 B2 2.8 v6 4x4.
Manual EVERYTHING!
Thanks!

I assume that by 'spaghetti' you are referring to the vacuum system lines.

I'd leave it alone. For one, you may end up putting yourself in violation of local emissions laws by disabling those components. Also, while they might screw with some things, if you don't have a good idea of what you are going before ripping in, you are just opening a potential can of worms.

For my state, there are no emission requirements on a 1984. =D. Another note: I have none of the emissions equipment. The smog pump and cat are both gone. Is the distrbutor controlled by vacuum? I have a few random vacuum line plugged off with nails as well. It, put simply, is a mess. Still runs rather merrily though.

i've gotten most of my junk removed on my b2. good idea to start the engine, and disconnect whatever you think you "might" wanna remove. see if it runs ok while disconnected.

also make sure to check the manual and verify what it is that you are wanting to remove.

How many wires do you have going to the distributor the duraspark conversion is fairly cheap and you get rid of 95% of the wires on the engine and most all of the vacuum stuff too. costs about $130 plus a good carb. If it is blowing smoke when you start it new valve guide seals help alot also. Look in the tech library under duraspark conversion for the ignition and under 2.8 v-6 explains how to do the valve guide seals.

Yeah, I'm with Kim, if you have no emissions requirements and such, disconnect the EGR valve, do the duraspark conversion, maybe the 3.8 TBI conversion too, and call it a day.

They are all correct. I just got done doing the duraspark on my truck and it runs great. Huge difference. I used a holley 350 carb with #50 jets and the auto choke kit. My truck has headers, no cat or air pump and a 2 1/2 inch exhaust. I got my distributor, cap, cap adapter, and rotor from autozone, made my own harness, and used a GM 4 pin HEI module instead of the duraspark box. I removed my EGR valve and made a cover plate. It runs great, there is no comparison. My truck is a daily driver so I needed reliability. Just research it out, ask alot of questions, get all your parts, and you could do it in a good day or a weekend.
