My 2.3L Ran just fine yesterday evening. I got in it this morning and started it up and It idled up high like it usually does and then I put it in 1st and let the clutch out and it cut off. Then I started it and it did it again. The 3rd time I started it I didn't have to put it into gear it just cut off by itself. So I started it again and held the gas down a little to idle it high and it seemed to run ok then it just cut off. Starts back ok but idles very rough but smooths out with high idle however still cuts off either way.

Here is the items I am first going to check.

-Compression
-Lost a quart of oil somwhere so checking the plugs for oil on them.
-If above are ok then
-Fuel pressure (I haven't changed my fuel filter in a while)
-Listen to the injectors to see if they are firing
-if above is ok then
-Spark test at coil packs (and/or ohm test them also)

What else what would you guys check as diagnostics? I do have a thrown code but it's been because of low pressure at the EGR valve. My EGR tube is busted.

I have a new fuel pump in the tank. I might just changed the fuel filter first to see if that clears it up. Since it has not been changed in a very long time.

Worked on it last night. I changed the fuel filter first thing and that fixed it. It has better pull in low rpm's now too.
