So is there/what is the best way to reroute my intake to a location that is higher up in the engine? I just want to get it away from right behind the headlight so i wont suck in water as easily.

Well short of putting on an actual snorkel, the stock location is pretty high. how deep of water are you driving through?

In my truck I simply disconnected it from right behind the headlight and bent the flex pipe up at a 90 degree angle up so it's about 8 inches closer to the hood... not really the best way to do it, but it's a quick fix. This will keep water from splashing in, but don't plan on submerging it like that, as the intake pipe below the inlet isn't water proof.

I did this back in May of '04. Bought a couple vent fittings from Home Depot. One fit perfectly in the air filter box then ran the vent tubing into the cowl access cover. Been running it like that since without issues. If I remember right, I think I spent around 7 bux to make it work.
