I am in the proceess of swapping out my 86 2.9L engine with a 93 explorer 4.0l engine. I have a manual trans in the B2 and I am planning to upgrade the clutch to the 10 in size.

I was looking in RockAuto parts and they show 7 clutch sets. The least expensive is Sachs at $144 and the most expensive is Acdelco at $462. Another one is a Acdelco but at $153. Most are around $155-165

Does anyone have a suggestion as to the manufacturer that I should use for this clutch set? It is difficult to believe that there are so many manufactures producing this clutch. Which one should I use?

Just go to Napa and aks for a clutch kit and slave cylinder.

Those are goo quality parts, in the same price range as Rock Auto, and you don't have to wait a week for them to show up.

Thanks. I got a NAPA right down the street. There are very helpful

You're putting a 4.0 in front of an FM145...? That will last about a month.

Well I could also, while I have the truck all apart, change the transmission. Which one is compatable and recommended for durability? Where to find the new or used transmission?

Go with the 5 speed mazda trans that's behind the 4.0 in 91-94 explorers. I think it's the M5OD. It holds up pretty well.

It is found in all RBV's with a 4.0 and a manual transmission.
