well , mom wont let me ask my stepdad if i can use his truck , and i wont have the stuff for the diesel till next monday , so i could meet Madracingalley next tuesday in Ilion with my F-350
Is anyone in charge of scheduling the route? It would be nice to put together a list and see who we can fit in. The gaps might be covered by people that we contact that do not yet know about this.
I'm going from southern Indiana to north, central Iowa at the end of July. I can find excuses to go to a number of places in between.

My only concern is that if we schedule the route we'll have to exclude certain areas and possibly people that really want to participate. I would rather let the members work to get it cross country taking the route with the most participation instead of trying to send it through an area with limited participation and having to find people to help.
If people want to get the banner through their area they're going to have to coordinate with other members to get it. Basically the banner is going in the path of members most willing to meet to hand it off.
It appears that it's going to get handed off to WNY964x4, but there needs to be a plan already in place as to who's going to get it from him.
So, who's going to get it from WNY964x4 when he gets it???

We should just model it on power tour "hot rod magazine"
if people want to cruise bad enough they'll travel a couple hours to hop in.

As long as it's a Friday or Saturday I would more than happy to run up to Erie PA. Make for a nice little road trip!
If one of the PA guys wants to go meet up and grab it first that's fine too. Easiest days for me to meet are Fri. and Sat. anytime!

The banner is less than 50 miles away from the Atlantic Ocean 6 weeks into it. At this rate if it were to take 6 weeks for each 50 miles in a straight line across the continent we are looking at 360 weeks or 7 years. It will be even longer if we go by the number of people who have expreesed interest and divide that by the time it has taken between each person. Most of us will be getting rides from the old folks home by our grand children to pass the banner and we won't even remember what a Ranger is.

well once it reaches IN, it will move through quite a few hands quickly as we plan on a g2g around the hand-offs...
i plan on meeting up around Evansville IN ( hopefully a Friday ) and have Frank the Tank, 86 Slo-Vo, RangerSVT, and anyone else who wants to meet up and ferry it across Western KY to LBL ( Turkey Bay ) and have it on a wheeling trip
camp one night, and have lots of pics with it on lots of obstacles , then meet up with Copperhead85 down in TN.....unless he wants to come up and hang out.....
so should only be in our hands for the one weekend.....whenever that weekend is:icon_thumby::icon_thumby:

Interesting.
I found this on Wikipedia:
Remington was founded in 1816 by Eliphalet Remington in Ilion, New York, as E. Remington and Sons. It is the oldest company in the United States which still makes its original product, and is the oldest continuously operating manufacturer in North America. It is the only US company which produces both firearms and ammunition domestically, and is the largest US producer of shotguns and rifles.

It would be neat to see it with members and their RBV, but I think a lot of us are also interested to see were it goes. Find an interesting location for you and the member you're getting it from to pose in front of.
This adventure is going to be full of pics allowing members to put faces to board names and see what they drive as well as pics with an intersting background. Don't worry about what you're driving, find an interesting place to take the photo.
Kool glad to see it almost to Ohio... although i think JSpafford is the closet to me i wouldn't mind maybe meeting someone else being that i've already meet him and his wife a while back but what ever falls into place to move it the quickest then so be it. No offence Justin!!
N-E how Glad to see its ok to drive something else cause I'm having trouble getting a hold of the owner of a 1st gen 2wd I found... the number on the truck is wrong and i've triied several different veryations of the number and knowone knows what i'm talking about. I keep checking on the truck hoping the owner will notice but no change yet... As for taking pics in cool places if we meet in here in Bellefontaine there are three major land marks we have the shortest street in america, the oldest concrete street in america and the highest point in Ohio.

So, how short is the shortest street in America, and why is it so short?
As far as that Ranger for sale, I would put a note under his windshield wiper, make it look kinda like a ticket, that should get his attention!

The interesting thing about this is that we have no idea what route it's going to take. That makes it fun. The route it takes will be based on the motivation of our members (Maybe we should refer to it as "The route of motivation"). If a group wants it to come their way they will have to coordinate to get it.

For the time frame its been out there it has hardly moved. You guys need to pick up the pace, everybody is waiting and we have to get it through Canada to Alaska, Hawaii, Hondurus ect. At this point hand-off time shouldnt be more than a day or two, do your logistics and dont accept it if your going to sit on it... C'mon you guys at this rate we may not see it in Alaska for 5 years and even then we may have to come down and take it. Motivation people, this is a mission. You sign the line, you hold the line... make it happen.

WNY964X4 has had it for 9 days. That's 10% of the summer. It should have went to pillen and then south to clean up Maryland and surroundings, I think. Then through to West Virginai (a beatiful drive on I68 which I made earlier this year) and once it hits Ohio it's going to move much quicker. WNY964X4 is in a dead zone without anyone close to him.
We can still schedule this:

Looks I will be meeting up with you, I can meet you in nashville, maybe a lil farther, but it won't be with the ranger, it'll be with my DD unless I get my motor swap done first...Then in reverse order I'll meet with Copperhead85 for a pic, then carry it up through Turkey Bay for a pic and dip in the Kentucky Lake, then off to Madisonville, Ky to railman...

Between groups of members, not individual members. I see 10 assembly areas where the banner arrives to one person in the group, everyone else drives to get their picture taken, if they want to, and it leaves for the next group with another member. We need to be pinging pillen right now to get this show on the road.

Well I'm just getting wind of this effort today... and didn't really feel like reading thru 30 pages of posts! Sorry. Anyways, I'll play the game if it ends up in North Carolina (where is it now, BTW?). I'm in Burlington and I make frequent trips to TN and KY where I could pass it off there. Actually, my Ranger is in storage at an uncle's house in KY, so I could get my pic from there...

If you want to expand it to international I can do photos of it with the Sphinx and Pyramids in the background. I'm working in Egypt but could pick it up in the Seattle area during my next trip home in September if it were within reasonable driving distance, then mail it back (I have direct access to the US Postal System here, so that's easy and safe). I could also have a friend carry it back in October. He's not a Ranger Station member but is in a Ford club - has the sweetest '66 Ford 1/2 ton that he bought brand new with the money he saved while the Army had him in Viet Nam.

Love this idea! Its a great way to bring guys together and get members meeting other members!
I see you've already got two guys in NC, but I'll make that a 3rd! I'm in High Point NC.
I'm getting ready to drive to Fort Lauderdale FL here in the next week or so, which isn't making much progress westward, but it would allow more people to sign it! :D But I doubt it'd make it down here that fast.
I'll also be headed to Gainesville GA in the next month or so, which is another possibility.
Anyway! Love the idea! Anyone considered starting a 2nd banner? That way some of us guys in the south could get in on the action? Or maybe pass one from West to East, while the other is being passed East to West?
Just a thought! :D
