so where are we planning to meet up with you for the drive to the ocean, being as most of us are up in the Lakewood/Tacoma/Auburn area & you now live in Lacey, maybe the members up north should plan a time on the Saturday that this is planned to meet at BADMTS's Firestone store in Lakewood & then travel to meet up with you Justin in Lacey. Thinking 10 -11am on a Saturday shouldn't be to early for anyone to meet up for a caravan of Rangers to go to the Ocean???

I think that would prolly work out nicely. It's not to early for those of us who have a little drive.

sounds good... I should know which saturday is best next week when I get back to work and find out when I'm going to the field.

So, my mother in law lives in New hampshire. In two weeks, she is driving from there, across the states, then up into vancouver island canada. Wed like to see it come to canada, and he west coast, because why not? Seems everybody around here is concerned about fuel. She drives an older mustang, and is comming across the country anyway. Would this help anyone?

So is this thing actually going to make it to Commifornia. Im with doorgunner. To me the logical route would of been from Utah, Kneevada then Commi. then up the west coast. :icon_confused:
Oh well. I got to have something to bitch about besides this screwed up weather.

The reason it went to washington first instead of commiefornia, is because it was stuck in UT for months, and Justin (NMB2) was passing through on his way to Ft. Lewis, and grabbed it. The most logical route isnt geographic, its the route that members are headed and willing to deliver...Justin stepped up and did what others werent willing to do... So its in washington. It will get dipped in the pacific here, as far as I know washington has a significant member base (more so than CA), and we are further west... The only obstacle right now is getting all the guys to show up...

Yo,
+1, We just need to set a date. If the Washington guys know this is might be their only shot, they will come out for it. But we just need to set a date. How about the 30th?

I know for a fact I would be good for the 30th. I am pretty sure I would be good for the 23rd as well, but due to a sick/dying family pet, I was let go from work today to take care of that and didnt even think to ask when we were going to the field. I am thinking it is next week though.

SOOOOO.....

everyone else figure out which weekend is best for all. 23 or 30? Once we pick a date, lets mark your calendars and roll with it.

Also, where are we ultimately going to end up, to dip it?

Yo,
Do we need an orange flag to drive on the beach?
No, it's not the dunes. Certain sections of the beach are closed to vehicles between memorial day and labor day, they're marked with signs. There are many acess roads so you can get off the beach and drive to the next open section. The 38th Pl entrance (were we're meeting) and south is open all year round.

well everyone is mentioning July 23rd, but the real info that needs to be set is the starting location for the puget sound TRS members to gather at & then head south to Lacey to meet up with Justin.

I would say lets meet in the Large McDonald's / park n ride area at the end of WA512 & I-5 interchange

McDonald's 10417 PACIFIC HWY SW, TACOMA WA 98499

around 10am,leave by 10:30 to meet up with Justin at Walmart in Lacey & then set up other locations to meet up with other TRS members or RBV's head south along the way & the final dipping location needs to be set in stone.

I was involved in another forum years back pertaining to a car forum & had a gathering of over 30 vehicles that came from Canada & WA to meet up for a showing of cars & a pizza party at the final destination.

It all takes a lot of planning & with out it this wont be happening.

Is this 38th Pl entrance the one by the Hewitt House light house on the Long Beach Peninsula?

If so then here's some info.

Driving Directions to Hewitt House

Seaview is located on the SW shoreline of Washington State on the Long Beach Peninsula. It is approximately a 3.0 hour drive from Seattle, WA and 2.5 hours from Portland, OR and is a popular vacation destination on the West Coast.

FROM SEATTLE: there are several options as to how to get to Seaview. You can travel south on I-5 and then west on either 8, 6 or 4, all of which will end up connecting with 101 south which will lead you to the Peninsula (see upper right map above).

Traveling west on Highway 101 you will come to a “T” and a blinking red light (see lower map). Turn left (south) on Pacific Highway. Approximately 1 block turn right (west) on 38th Street (38th Str. becomes 38th Place), which is the Seaview ocean approach road, for 3 blocks and look for the Hewitt House sign on the NW corner of the intersection of 38th Place and "J" Place. Turn right (north) on “J” Place. Hewitt House is 1/2 block on the right.

FROM PORTLAND: take Hwy 26 to 101 (Canon Beach / Seaside) and head north to Astoria. Just prior to Astoria you will go over the Young’s Bay Bridge and through a “round-about” before turning left to take the Astoria/Megler Bridge and cross over the Columbia River to Washington. It’s about 2 hours from Portland to Astoria. An alternative route from Portland to Astoria is to take Hwy 30 which parallels the Columbia River. At the Washington end of the Astoria Bridge take a left (west) on Hwy 101. Continue west through the town of Chinook. About three miles past Chinook there will be a road on the right with a sign that reads - 101 “Alternate.” Take this right (north). You will come to a “T” and a stop sign; turn left (west – see map) and you will be heading to Long Beach and you are on Hwy 101 again. I’s just a little over 12 miles from the Washington end of the Astoria/Megler Bridge to Hewitt House and takes about 15 minutes. Traveling west on Highway 101 you will come to a “T” and a blinking red light.

Maps not pasted ,but you can visit www.thehewitthouse.com/Directions_maps_vacation_rental_long_b... to see them

according to the maps & my girlfriend she believes that headed down to Longview & then head NW on Hwy 4 would actually be the best roads & probably the quickest as its mostly I-5.

This route we can actually gather more RBV @ larger location.

If we set a 30 minute lay over at each location before headed to the next location would work out great. 30 minutes may actually be to long, maybe 15 minutes would work out better for all locations except the initial starting point in Tacoma/Lakewood area

The Walmart in Lacey/Tumwater is the location we should meet up with Justin.

Your estimated travel time is 27.67 min for 25.59 miles of travel from McDonald's to Tumwater's Walmart

Tumwater Walmart Store #3
5900 Littlerock Rd Sw
Tumwater, WA 98512

From there we could travel South on I-5 & meet up with any other RBV / TRS members at the Walmart in Chehalis.

Your estimated travel time is 24.67 min for 23.70 miles of travel

That Walmart is
Supercenter Store #2249
1601 Nw Louisiana Ave
Chehalis, WA 98532

And then from there we can continue to travel South to meet anyone coming up from the south @

Your estimated travel time is 42.32 min for 45.53 miles of travel

Longview Walmart Store #2469
540 7Th Ave
Longview, WA 98632

At this point we should of traveled & stopped for 30 minute lay over's to make the total travel time @ approximately 3 hrs. 10 min.

From there it sounds as though Hahnsb2 knows the way ,so we could then get onto Hwy 4 & follow him to the Pacific Ocean.

It should take approximately another 67 miles & 1 hr & 30 min. before getting to the Ocean. If my math, searching & calculations are correct we should be to the Pacific Ocean by 3pm

We could be there sooner if we make the lay overs be only 15 minutes which would shave 1 hr off of the travel & stopping from Tacoma to The Pacific Ocean.

can we get a roll call of who all will be meeting up for the trip on Saturday, July 23rd & at which location you plan to show up at. This way we can get an idea of how many will actually be at the dipping of the banner in the ocean, unless your just wanting to sign the Banner ,which would be great also.

Do you all think the lay over's should be 30 minutes or 15 minutes at each gathering location? Some may only show up to sign the banner & not want to make the trip to the Ocean.

Im gonna check into having the military newspaper ,THE RANGER,show up @ the McDonald's/ 512 park in ride to take pics even though this would be a very short notice, so that actually may not end up happening.

I will be at the first location around 9:30 & if all goes as planned with Justin, I will actually have the banner with me for any one wanting to sign it at the start of the gathering.

Hopefully Justin will get back in touch with me today so I can come get the banner from him later in the day.

ok so is there any one thats in the Chehalis area that we need to meet up with at Walmart? If not then we can just pass up that location. I will have a break down of arrival & departure times for both 15 min. & 30 min. lay overs & will let the majority of vote decide of which will be the choice taken. There's about a 45 minute difference of Pacific Ocean arrival between the two.

Pacific Ocean arrival could even be sooner if we don't have a need to stop @ Walmart in Chehalis.

Well im looking to head out friday night... Its kind of a waste of time (and a trip to long beach) to make it happen in one day. I like to go down a hang around for a bit. Long beach is totally worth the price of a hotel/motel for one night, and thats what I plan on doing for friday night.

I guess I could be an asshole of some sorts, but I dont need all the pre-meet mumbo jumbo... Im down for heading out and making an event at the beach, not the whole damn trip down there, especially when heading to longview is out of the way for us that live up north. I head out the 101, not only is that the scenic route, but it cuts some time off the trip from where I am at...

I guess I dont have to be a part of it, but I just dont see the point of it... is it really necessary to be a bunch of cheerleaders for a bunch of trucks that nobody cares about but ourselves??

Sorry to be the curmudgeon, I understand the excitement, but is it really that necessary?

Weezl, if you are going to be in town that weekend, that would work for me, and I would be willing to be banner courier for the weekend if so deemed. If you can work out that deal with yourself and maybe some others, that would be a cool little jog on the banner trip.

I agree with the whole meeting up and rally points, as well as it is a huge pain in the ass for me in the crew cab, pulling my bronco. I spoke with Tom (94 lngbd) about it earlier as well. It would be alot easier for me to just drive straight through, I can meet up with anyone along the way that cant make the trip, but wants to sign the banner.

It also would be much easier for me to leave friday as well, as myself and racin are "going together". I dont want to be a convoy party pooper either, but the way I see it is that we are all ending up in the same place.

spoke with my dad today, he's pretty willing to send me airmiles to get from here to there, though it would be coming back to calgary with me on an airplane, not in my truck...

i also don't know if i can for sure get the time off of work, (a job i haven't even started yet) though i did mention it in my interview...

it's in the air, i'll have to see when i start getting pay cheques and such before i say for sure...

ok so here's an update. I had about a 20 minute phone conversation with
NMB2(Justin) And being as he's the one that has brought the Banner here from the mid states, he's already has a plan worked out & being that he's trailering his trucky by means of his crew cab diesel, he's not wanting to make alot of stops. Nor in tight area's & I dont blame him

So ,I will meet up with anyone wanting to meet at the McDonald's / 512 park in ride lot & from there we can convoy down to meet up with several others @ the Walmart in Longview.

We won't be stopping at the Walmart in Chehalis or Tumwater. The small convoy will meet up with NMB2 & others @ the Walmart in Longview.

So I gues its just me (Tom), JFA_Spyderman (Grant), & 5.0FOX (Jake) so far that will be meeting at McDonald's / 512 park n ride

That is really crappy. My wifes car was rearended last week and totaled and we are still waiting to hear from the insurance company too. I feel your pain. She is on the fence about going but if she doesn't I will let you know. I wouldn't mind a passenger.

Hey guys. Sorry to barge in last minute, but what time are you meeting at the Long View walmart? I live right near Centralia, WA...and have not logged into my TRS account in forever. I'd like to maybe tag along, if you guys do this early enough.

I might have to work at 4, so let me know if that works or whatever.

And are you guys meeting at the Walmart, then continung on, or...?

after talking to Racin it looks like he wants to take a different route, not through longview, and we are leaving friday afternoon, so whatever meet up's and convoys you guys want to do, dont let me hold you up, plan away, as long as we all end up in the same place, and we have contact numbers.

How close are you to exit# 88 or Country cousins Restaurant? We plan to leave Tacoma/Lakewood area around 10:15-10:30 & it is approx. 48 mins to Country Cousins Restaurant 1054 Harrison Avenue
Centralia, Washington 98531 or 53 mins. to the Walmart super center 1601 Nw Louisiana Ave, Chehalis, WA 98532.

If you could just pm me your name & contact # then I will call you when we leave Tacoma/Lakewood area & you could be sitting on freeway on ramp @ either exit 88 or Harrison ave /I-5 on ramp or Walmart's exit ramp & Just join in as you see us approaching & I can also call you as I get closer to which ever area is best for you to be waiting at. So before 11:30 we should be in your general area

I have bluetooth so dont worry about the cell phone law ,plus my great nephew will also be riding along.

I wont say what im doing to my truck ,but YOU all will see in pics that you cant miss seeing the leader from Tacoma to Longview's Walmart.

From Walmart in Chehalis to Walmart in Longview

Your estimated travel time is 42.32 min for 45.53 miles of travel

Longview Walmart Store #2469
540 7Th Ave
Longview, WA 98632

And at Longviews Walmart We will be meeting up with Hahnsb2 & BRUTUS_T_HOG & hopefully many more from the south & maybe even some more from Northern Oregon.

So if all goes as well as Im planning the trip from Tacoma/Lakewood we should be @ Long view's Walmart by 12:30 & be at the Pacific Ocean beach by 2:00

Lakewoods outta the way also ,but thats not stopping me from attending a gathering of cool looking RVB & meeting new people & having fun.

Im also curious if all attending would be intertested in a short trip in to Seaview to have pizza at

Chico's Pizza Parlor
4301 Pacific Hwy, Seaview, WA 98644 (360) 642-3207 .

Its about 6 blocks from the beach access road

If majority is interested then I will make arrangement's for a pizza party for around 3:30 or 4, for about 25+ people??? Hoping we have a good showing of TRS members.

Just spoke to a lady dealing with information about driving on the beach & she informed me that its treated like a hwy & that vehicles driven on the beach must be licensed & that farther north in Longbeach this coming Saturday is their annual sand sculpturing festival. So that may be interesting if any one is interested in driving a couple miles north.

Just got off phone with Chico's pizza parlor & they can seat up to 176 people & 3:30-4:00 would be perfect for them . If majority is interested then I'll call him on Friday to make arrangements.

I recommend we meet at Cape Disappointment SP sometime around noon or before, Get some photos by the south lighthouse in the parking lot... head out to seaview and the beach... dip the banner and get some photos... have some brews... and do our own thing...

The action is happening friday night LOL

WELL, leaving Lakewood around 10:15 & should have about 5 following me wont even be to Longview Walmart until around 12:30 to meet up with BRUTUS_T_HOG & Ranger Ryan & from there its another 1 1/2 hr drive,so majority of the members that would like to sign banner & get pics wouldn't even be there until around 2pm,maybe sooner.

Just cause you getting there a day earlier doesn't meen that you can just go off & do what you want with the majority of the members not even being there yet.

I mean yeh ,pizza was just a thought , but why not wait till ALL of use are there before going off on your own thing just cause you have had a whole night worth of beers in you.

I've decided I WILL be in Vancouver area around the 13th if august for my sister's wedding, can you guys try to get it into Canada before the Friday of that weekend, as I'm only there for a couple days, if I can get the time off...

Does anyone have a problem with me transporting it on an airplane? I am not driving to Vancouver, I will be flying, and it would becoming back on the plane with me...

Jim, do you have an opinion on the matter? I know to this point it's been all members, and all road... And possibly even all rbv? I'd hate to be the guy to break the streak, but I don't really have a choice, if the 13th is when I take it... Unless I convince my sister to bring it back for me (different sister) in her flex... It's kinda an rbv... Kinda...

FYI: I'm Tom the 3rd guy helping to dip the banner & also the one with the rolling flatbed billboard.

enjoyed the day & surprised a lot of members with my rolling bill board attached to my temp. wooden flatbed, that is built very strong as it was able to handle NMB2's truggy driving one front tire up onto the rear corner of the bed.

My great- Nephew went with me & he took pics as well as others involved. Even people on the beach came by to take pictures.

Had fun blasting down the beach & meeting several members & checking out there rigs.

May need to get RacinNdrummin to build me a front bumper like whats on his B2. Really liked JFA_Spyderman suspension set up & the fact that his ranger was running 35's & still had the 2.3L. BRUTUS_T_HOG showed up with his very young daughter 3-5yrs old guessing & he had a 89 Ranger S 2.3L
2WD ,stock w/Street tires

He had to make a run at getting onto & off of the beach being 2wd stock & with street tires.

RangerRyan showed up in his newly purchased '84 B2 with I believe to be his girl friend & also his brother.

Everyone that showed up had someone along with them except JFA_Spyderman

I believe there was a total of 8 members that showed up 4 being B2's & 4 Rangers

Was a long day for the 2 of use as after the gathering we drove another 100+ miles into Oregon to buy some parts & then as we were crossing back into Wa. I asked great-nephew if he wanted to share a picture of beer?

Finally got home this morning around 6:15

It sounds like it was a really good time. I was really hoping to get mine back on the road so that I could meet up with you guys down there. You wouldn't believe the time I had trying to find an alternator for this truck. I finally bought one for a 92 then had to make my own connections to make it work. Dude, don't compare its stay in Washington to its stay in Utah. I brought the banner to Washington and was actively involved in getting it signed while it was here. It sat in Utah because nobody else in the surrounding area's wanted to step up. I had it signed by 7 members while I held it in my area, and then another 7 yesterday at the beach when I handed it off.

As far as it coming to canada, the rules are very clear, you need to drive it. There is not enough member base or participation for it to go to canada, thats why nobody is taking you up on your offer. It would be stuck there.

It is now south, and will continue going south. We have a large enough member base to move it through oregon, down into cali where it needs to go.

Congrats men. Mission accomplished. Anything more is just icing on the cake. My opinion is that since it got coast to coast, it can fly now. I'd love for it to make a tour with the northern north Americans no matter how it gets there. Hell, I'll pay shipping to and from Honduras. rSH alone could get several people to sign it. Remember Jim wasn't only interested in fast, but also getting the most TRS members to sign it.

Yep.....once all the state-side members sign it, Jim could reimburse anyone to airmail it to another member who promises that they will keep it moving.

Congratulations Everyone!!

I was out of town for a few days with Vanessa for our anniversary and just saw that the banner made it to the Pacific. I think it's pretty awesome and a significant accomplishment.

The goal was to get the banner from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean by members handing it off to each other and actually driving it. It couldn't be mailed or put on a plane.

I don't know where it should go from here, and how it should get there. I guess I'll have to sleep on that one tonight.

I really appreciate the efforts that everyone has put in to making this happen!!

would be cool if it turned from TRS banner across north america to TRS banner around the world

as i said before, i am willing to bring it back to calgary with me on the 14/15thish on the plane, but if people think it should stay ground, as it has thus far, i can leave it with members in vancouver, and get it through the okanagan, where there are other members, possibly i could bribe my dad to bring it with him, next time he comes out, or my brother or sister who live here, who will be in vancouver with me the same weekend, between the 2 of them, they have 5 kids, one has to be driving... (one deives a flex, the other drives a 4runner)

up to you guys where it goes...

I'm just guessing about 3 weeks/5,000 miles of actual driving/meeting up & signing.....the majority of the rest of the time would be for loss of interest....then you have really bad weather causing some slow-downs....a few vehicle break-downs.....a few problems getting a specific day so that everyone in the area could meet/sign the Banner.

I' just glad it got DID! It's a pretty big deal going across the U.S. by truck....when you sit back & think about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am in no way a surffer dude. I have large hills and small mountains both with lots of trees around. Now, the southern OREGON coast is only 1 and 1/2 hours away, but still not a surfer dude.
But on the banner note, lets get it moving again. I can go as far north as Eugene for pick up. But no later than August 13th as I start a new truck driving job doing long haul and will be gone.

its been said several times. There is a much larger member base in oregon/cali/southwest. There is a much greater chance of it getting stuck in canada with you, in which case it needs to travel south first.

Yo,
The point of the banner is to see where it would naturally go, based on who shows up to the meets and who is able to transport it. Once it gets to california its not done by any means. There are also a ton of people on the east coast who did not get a chance to sign it. Just be patient.

I'm not trying to say the banner shouldn't go to Canada weezl, I'm just saying that its taking its "natural path". There was nobody at our beach meet to take it to go to canada, but there was someone to take it south. There is a large member base down there... it WILL move.

You guys do realize that she probably can read....

(Sorry bout that, Chick in the nice truck....we're just not house-broken yet)

That's debatable at best. It all depends on if she graduated from Oregon city high school or not. I graduated with honors and quite literally slept through half of my honors classes. From anywhere else, she can definitely read.

Pickin on the girl huh? Best be nice or ill park on top on ur rig ;)

Hey now ha ha once my 85 is running properly that won't be such an easy task

Ill go bigger :)

O.K......we're in trouble now.....she can read/has a sense of humor/is sharp/& won't back down!

Nice to see you on here, and welcome, too (I'm late apparently).

:icon_thumby:

You know how they say that when someone drives a big truck they have a small penis? In this case, I sure hope so...

+1...I like the SAS'd truck, too.

I meant it as not having one at all. *sighs* :icon_twisted:

Pete

to a certain extent, i want to get into the true north strong and free, but i'm about 4 hours from the closest us/canadian border, so i'm not really the one to be grabbing it at this point, and i'm not planning on making any more trips down for a while...

in order to get to somewhere on the canada side, that's within a decent drive of bellingham or seattle, i'm looking at about a 12 hour drive...

Well like I said, at the rate it's going it'll get to me next year, and if I still have it then, I'll bring it with me when I move back up to Seattle.. And It'd be a perfect excuse to go visit my buddies up in B-ham.

Man no one is stepping up to help??

I just checked the Oregon RBV Owners Group and there are several active users on here that are along i5.

Im willing to drive all the way to Portland if i have to but it sure would be nice to have some help moving it.

Its gonna be bad enough to find someone between Springfield and Medford, thats a drive im not looking forward to.

Anyone??

i'm going to be going to vancouver again at some point... if this is utah all over again, i should be there in november... but i'm not really in any rush to make a trip out there, nor really put effort to try to co-ordinate to pick this up, again
