weezle made a valiant attempt to get the BANNER this week......no dice....

nobody wants to meet what's-his-name....(been so long i forgot).....to bring the Banner to the west Coast.....

I'm not sure what the plan for the banner is once it hits the Canadian side, but if it's in Calgary before August I can drive it from Calgary, AB to Nova Scotia(the complete other side of Canada) as I'll be moving back home there middle of August.

Id' drive to Provo myself if I could, but I just can't swing it. I thought about it though. From Sacramento to Provo is 692 miles.

692 x 2(round trip) = 1384 Miles

1384Miles / 15MPG = 92.27 Gallons

92.27 x $4 = $369.08

Just in gas. Then I still gotta get from Sac. to the coast, which is another 200 miles(round trip)

A volunteer!

Maybe the guys in each state could pitch in some gas money together for one individual/passengers could travel to get the Banner....that way everybody saves on gas/cash....the member who gets the
banner brings it to his group to get signatures.

This way.....long distances can be covered without a couple members bearing the expense.....Somebody work out the details....my little brain hursts!

I can take it all the way from Utah to Ft. Lewis washington in a couple weeks. I leave Ft. Polk june 2nd... I will be wheeling moab on the 5th... should be up in provo that night.

From Salt Lake I'll be shooting over to Elko, NV to wheel with a buddy, then from there I think I head towards winnamucca (sp?) and head up. If people just want to meet to sign it and cannot carry it, I'm cool with that too. This is the best I can do though.

Okay so Valhalla94 and I are down to drive to the Utah Border maybe a little farther to pick the banner up and bring it back to the Reno area where there are a couple more members then meet up with Jester. We were thinking about doing this on the 10th and 11th of June due to the fact that we have school and work.

well, beings it showed so much interested up in washington/oregon. I figure if I take it all the way to lewis with me, there seemed to be enough people to drop it down oregon and along cali. so we can get more people involved/signed/pictures. I will meet up with anyone along my way if they want to, just let me know!!

I will be rolling through wennemucca on the 7th or 8th I think. I will PM you when I get to Elko. I will be staying in Elko... so I wont be much further to meet up with anyone that wants to meet up. I'll be out there wheeling:icon_thumby:

canadian leg: Kirk, i honestly think it's best to have it go up north first, as getting it up there from anywhere is going to be difficult as hell, and edmonton NEEDS to get it, if we get it here in calgary... there's 3-4 members in edmonton, and possible one more in red deer?

i may or may not still be in calgary when it hits here, i'm just waiting for selection for the armed forces, and if all goes well, i will most likely be in eastern canada for basic training in the next 2 months, will be there for 4 months, then a different area of eastern canada for about a year and a half...

yukon and alaska are going to miss out alltogether, if this doesn't go north from calgary... as i highly doubt that it will make it back up here, and they have already worked out the logistics as far as i know, so it would be a shame to miss that section of the journey... eastern canada is close enough to where the banner needs to finish that it can make it up there pretty well...

it's not so much a set in stone plan, i just figure that would be the easiest, there's members in edmonton, northern bc, yukon, NWT, and alaska that are more or less cut off from everyone else

haha... no secret mission. We just met super late at night, and I still had about 2 hours of driving left, so it was a fairly quick hand-off. I am at Ft. Lewis now, staying in a hotel in Tacoma off exit 129. I told Black B2 to pass my number onto anyone that would potentially be near me in NV that wanted to meet up as I had no internet access.

I'm going to be really busy this week in-processing post, but I seen up above that there were several members in the area, and I figure most also work during the week, so if we could get a little meet up going this weekend and a hand-off to the member(s) that were going to make it hit down to Oregon, that would be great.

We are very close to the Pacific Ocean. This has been a major undertaking, and we should seriously consider getting media coverage. Especially since social media is such a hot topic today. We couldn't have done this without it.

I think the person who dips it should be the one who's willing to contact the media, explain it, and see if they will cover it.

In 2010 I set out to see if we could move a banner from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean using only the members of our forum. The members use the forum to coordinate hand off's and meeting locations, and everyone who comes in to contact with the banner signs it. It can't move forward unless it's physically given to another forum member and they drive it.

It started out on May 20th 2010 being dipped in the Atlantic Ocean around Worcester MA. From there it travelled across the country getting signed, and even got dipped in the Gulf of Mexico. This past winter slowed it down, but it finally made it to Ft. Lewis (near Seattle) Washington where it's very close to achieving its mission. I've thought about getting the media involved when it happens, and explaining how this all happened from a group of Ford enthusiasts using a message forum.

ok, first, i'm about 10-12 hours from the closest ocean, on top of that, there is a probably 20 hour ferry ride to gwaii (if they even run up there) i've got a route planned that will take it to samsquanch ryda, mougal mark, kidney beans, gweilo, and original warden, who are all up north of the major cities in western north america

depends where. i travel to warrenton(check the banner map) everyday for work. longbeach isn't too far from there, but a 120mile hilly commute per day is raping me on gas money so i can't afford to go much further than that.

alright, I've spoken to numerous members here personally on the phone or through PM and the general consensus is that it needs to be a weekend. I am currently on permissive TDY and I come off of it after this weekend. This weekend is probably not a good weekend for most, and I know that I am supposed to go to the field soon. As soon as I get back to work next week and find out when I am going to the field, and for how long. I will choose a weekend, expect to have about 2 weeks notice, and then we will just roll with that weekend. I think this is the easiest way to do it. So we are looking at around 3 weekends from now is my best guess, including this weekend.
