Ok so I guess I'm a retard :icon_confused: because I am having one heck of a time trying to get the rear fenders off the bed of my 87' Ranger. Any tips, hits, ideas, or epic earth shattering thoughts that might help would be greatly appreciated. I have a 4'' body lift on now and have plans to add front and rear flares for bigger tires, but can't seem to get the bed fenders off. Thank for any and all help.

So how many welds have you ground off so far?
 
I don't think they're removable. Two types of fender flares that I have read about; 1] bolt/screw on without cutting. Would be used for looks or when cops hassling about tire reveal. 2] bolt/screw on WITH cutting of fender. Used to avoid slashing big tires that are getting stuffed into wheel well when 4x4ing. I'm cheap, I'm going to use commercial [flexible] baseboard on the fenders I've cut out when I get tires big enough to warrant it.

These pics are of my b-II rust bucket. If I was to do this again I'd build a whole new inner well because as it is the tires rub quite bad with 31" x 8.50" x 15"

are you trying to take the actual bedsides off? they are NON-REMOVABLE. have to use a skill saw to remove them. An the only time you'd need to do that is to put on flared fiberglass fenders or replacement bedsides.

If you're putting on fenderflares and having a difficult time getting to the backside of them, remove the bed and rest it upside down on sawhorses or something similar

Thank you everyone for the tips and ideas. I bought a tack weld drill bit. I have drilled what seems to be 100 welds or so and some areas have gaps, but then I get areas that I can't find any tacks? The plan is to add pre runner style rear fender flares, I got "skinny" one to many times with my truck and my front and rear fenders look like, well they look really bad. And now that I'm only going to use my 2wd truck for the dirt roads to my moms house, which is a good 30+ min dirt road drive, and need a little bit more clearance, but want to stay low enough to make the drive quicker, lol. I'm going to remove the bed next week to check for rust and help with future painting, so I will check it out better on the inside and take out the saw if need be, thanks for the idea. I'll wait till the bed is off till I take my next crack at it. Thanks for all the help so far.
