So I got this truck about a year, and one month ago... the day I bought it, they put a new starter motor in it, and said they had done it once before that close to a year before that....

so here I am a year later, starter motor is FRIIIIIIED!!! I opened it up and nothing but dust came out for the most part....

my question is, what is likely that cause that this truck is killing starters in a year or less??

Since I've had it I've replaced the entire negative/positive batt cables all the way to the starter and back, how ever not the solenoid... I'm going to be putting a new starter in it in the morning, and I'd like it to last longer than a year (even though it's lifetimed)

any ideas?

If the starter only lasted one year then they didn't rebuild it properly. If they actually rebuilt it at all. Lots of rebuilds are examined and determined to work fine and then simply cleaned up and sold as rebuilds.

If you took it apart and saw tons of dust. thats usually a indication of worn out brushes. you can actually just buy a new pair of brushes for it and theres a good chance it will continue to function fine. just be sure to clean ALL the dust out of it as the dust is conductive and can cause short conditions and act just like a bad starter.
