ok i have a 92 ford explorer and i am goin to put 4.88'ss in it and was wondering if i need the 8.8" Notched Cross Pin Part# RG 80-0273 it says its for the 28 spline rears and mine is 31 as you probly know. i am goin to run nitro gears there site doesnt was it is required for 8.8 rears but trs fab does just wondering what is correct and what i need? thanks for the help in advance

You can get a notched cross pin (not sure if a 28 spline will work on a 31 spline) but you don't need to. Most people, my self included, slightly grind one tooth on the ring gear to allow enough clearance to install the stock cross pin. I know it sounds crazy to take a grinder to your brand new gear set but it works link a charm, is cheaper thenbuying a new cross pin, and doesn't significantly reduce the strength one bit.
