So i just went though my second set of Les Schwab tire chains in two wheelin trips. i take the broken set in and they replace it for free, but i dont want to have to do this every time. i have the chain link ones (not cable) but i need something better. my dad has some old chain ones that he has had for years and are just made out of heavier links. i have searched everywhere but cant seem to find anything that looks stronger than what i already have. any suggestions?

how are they breaking? snapping links? bending links? if links are snapping, then you need some heavier stuff.

what part is breaking? you could make your own. maybe use some 5/16 tow chain? :D

My tire chains are 3/16" and are off a semi. They were off the duals so I separated them and cut off a couple feet that I didn't need. They work great but I've still broken them when towing other vehicles. You could go to a heavier than 3/16" but then you are adding a ton of rotational weight which might start breaking axles and such. My advice get some old truck chains and cut them down to the size you need.
