Today I started to tear down the engine I took out of my turboRanger. It had been bored and the crank turned. It looked good enough to throw a set of rings and bearings in it and put it back together. I was going to put it in a hotrod I'm building. I discovered the block had been brocken and welded. Both of the lower corners of the block where the bell housing bolts up had been brocken and welded back on. It's going on the scrap pile now. At least I've got a good crank to work with.

Too bad your in WA, I've got a couple of standard bore blocks that are probably headed for the junkyard this spring. I decided that I really don't need 8.

Whoever did the weld job didn't grind the welds down on the mating surface. It's enough to throw off the alignment.
Gee, thanks a lot D. R. lol. Actually I'm like you. Too many projects. It's time to get rid of some clutter.

I'd be willing to bet that a lot of us are similar, at least in that regard. I'm probably worse than most for being a pack-rat. Something about having nearly 5,000sqft of storage space available. And I'm hoping to build another garage or barn this year.

Heh. I even pick up old rusty stuff off of barns. I got a small collection of wood stove doors.
