Ok, stupid question time...

When they say *right side* do they mean passenger, as in sitting in the truck it is the *right* side, or do they mean standing in front of the truck, which would make it the driver's side?

I am trying to figure out which side to order...they estimate said *Right side* tie rod end and connecting bar...

I hate feeling like an idiot... :rolleyes:

right side is passenger side. all references are given assuming your sitting in the drivers seat.

Ok another question along similar lines...

Is the *Drag Link* actually something stock on the truck or no? I can only find them on some parts websites and most are saying *with 4 inch lift* or similar...Shady is a stocker, and the estimate didn't say *Drag link* but my mechanic (who isn't real up on 4WD said drag link), so am I correct in thinking it is not something I need, but only need the inner/outer Tie Rod Ends? Oh, and is Greasable better?

Sorry I wasn't going to ramble on with a ton of questions....LOL

Yeah greasable is better. They have a little Zerk fitting so you (or your mechanic) can squirt some grease in there, making them last longer.

a drag link is the part that attatches to the pitman arm and typically attatches to one of the knuckles. our rangers are funny because the "tie rod" attatches to the middle of the drag link making a kindof Y shape.

yes it is a "stock part". 4wd or not, the steering is set up the same.

and greasable is better. much much much better!

OooooKay...so since I bent the tie rod/end/connecting rod, I most likely do need to get the drag link replaced as well yes?

And yes I had a feeling greasable was MUCH better...and the cost diff is small...

If you're replacing the tie rod and tie rod ends and drag link, you need an entire steering linkage. There is nothing else. That inner/outer tie rod stuff is for A-arms, which have three major parts to the linkage. Depending on nomenclature, you have either two tie rods and no drag link, or one tie rod and one drag link. IMO, the former is correct; tie rods connect to tie rod ends, and drag links do not.

And FYI all locations on every vehicle are referenced as though you're sitting in the driver's seat.
