I think my gearbox is shot....Has anyone bought a gearbox rebuild kit and if so were you happy with the results? Is it better to just buy the rebuilt gearbox? The cost of the rebuild kit is about $80 as opposed to the rebuilt gearbox which is about $250.00ish.....

i would think that it would definately be worth it.
Most gearboxes have more wrong with them than just shot bearings. So, you can try "rebuilding" it (good luck getting the valve body off, though), but I think you'll have similar results lighting your $25 on fire.
And don't forget to add the cost of the inch-lb torque wrench you'll need to set the preload correctly. Those aren't cheap.

My truck is from the Midwest and fairly rusted. I'm sure getting it apart would be a pain.
I think I'm inclined to just buy the gearbox.
Anyway, thanks for the input guys!
