i have a 86 4x4 ranger i am putting a 5.0 out of a ford mustang and was wondering if that oil pan will work cause it looks like it will work

Should work, might have to work around the crossmember right there though. Not sure on the layout of an '86s frame though, could be wrong.

Most lift kits will give you all the clearance you need. Without lift I think you have to modify the pan a little. It seems like there was something about it in the tech section.
The "fox body" pan is THE pan to use on a Ranger though.
