Ok...so my '99 Eddie lost reverse AGAIN!! :shok:

At this point I'm thinking about putting in a C4 or C5 to replace whatever garbage transmission is currently in there.

Now the question part...

Would it work?
What would I need?
Any tips/ideas/etc???
Is it even possible to bolt up to a SOHC?

I've had enough of this issue...i'm really considering a jeep later this summer if this keeps up. :annoyed:

Any help would be appreciated at this point.

Thanks guys 'n gals

hit it with a hammer

go manual.

Ok..I thought of that too. Is there an adapter plate to mate a 5-speed to a SOHC 4.0L?? And if there is, has anyone ever re-located the "computer" from the center console on an Eddie? I know there's going to be a lot of plastic needing to be cut and removed if I go stick.

They say that a 4.0 M50D fits on a sohc all but one hole and they work.Imho ford did'nt make very many good automatic transmissions.

Yeah they have a 5 speed stick for the SOHC 4.0L All newer rangers have the SOHC and many have the M5OD so just grab one of those, if you can find a wrecked ranger get it as a cheap parts truck so you have everything you need.

I have a box for 4x4 under my plastic thing it is right behind the shift and isn't in the way. your computer should be behind the kick panel...
