I was working on my cousin's 2000 Explorer today and found myself wondering what gear ratio it had. The axle tag was pretty unreadable and the door jamb sticker said "42." The tech library doesn't list 42 anywhere. After some googling, I found out that it's an open diff with 4.10 gears.
