1987 2.8 fuel line ?

Wonder what size the fuel line is on a 2.8 Ranger? The line I'm referring too is the 2 lines that go into the tank itself, the return and the send lines...I need the inside and/or outside diameters AND any advice on the best way to splice this type of line...I have a pin hole leak somewhere about a foot or two forward of the tank but can't find a hole, just saw it squirting the other day when I had it running (it's a project toy, not daily driven)...so just need to know what size of line that is, it's a more plastic than rubber type hose, I'm guessing 3/8 OD, but just wanna make sure before I buy a piece of hose to splice in and also any tips on the best way to do it...Thanks guys!

are you sure you don't have the 2.9 fi engine? my 2.8 doesn't have a return line. just was checking it getting ready to install an aux. tank in the bed. the line to the pump is 3/8 and mine is definitely not plastic, it's rubber. besides the fill, the only other line would be the vent i believe. mechanical pump and carb'd 2.8.

if its an 87, it should be a 2.9l.

the line is 5/16 nylon line and you can buy repair kits at auto parts stores. you can use repair barbs that they sell, all you need to do it lube up the barb with a little motor oil and press it into the line. its pretty tough to get to press in, but once its in, you dont need any clamps or anything. they should sell a kit with 2 barbs and a length of line, sounds like what you need. look in the "help" section of the store

here is the repair kit. if you cant find the leak, use this.

here is just the barb. if you can find the leak, cut the line exactly where its leaking and just put it back together with a barb.

keep in mind that its pretty tough to press these barbs back into place, you might want to take the line off of the truck to do it. they also make some sort of a tool that grips the line and presses the barb into place but i haven't used one.
