You should use a 4.0 flywheel. You may be able to get a 2.9 flywheel to bolt up, but then you'd have to use the smaller, weaker 2.9 clutch.

What exactly are you doing?

a 2.9L clutch sometimes doesn't even hold the torque of the 2.9L, it'll never hold a 4.0L (neither will that transmission, for that matter).

You saying the clutch won't disengage when you depress the pedal? You got air in the lines if so (this wouldn't change by swapping flywheels/clutches).

Why are swapping IN a FM146?? I'd tell you to use it as a boat anchor, but it's got oil in it...

If you are changing over from an auto to a manual, you want the M5OD, not the FM146

does anyone have a m5or for sale???? i have the fm146 in and the only reason im using it is i got it for 20 bucks and my auto went out and i need my truck for work. i got the clutch to work. i would really like to buy a mazda trans but cant find/afford the ones for sale. if anyone has any just lying around that needs a rebuild let me know. thanks.
