I just got an '87 Ranger 4x4 ext cab with a 2.9 l motor. I got it from my brother in law. It came with another Ranger 2.9 (parts truck) same year and a Bronco II (parts truck). Both parts trucks have bad trannys. I can get what ever parts I want but I don't want 2 junk trucks sitting around my yard. The sooner I strip them the sooner he can take whats left to the junkyard. I'm getting the engine, extra starter, alternator, radiator. Can anyone look into the future and think of some other parts I should grab? I'm not an off roader so I don't expect to break alot of stuff. Just trying to put together a list.
 
When I had my Javelins, I would strip down the parts cars that I found and basically had at least one of everything including a roof that i cut off. When the junk cars left, there was only the shell. With the Javelins, they were 68-69, but they were getting hard to find in the mid 80s. It is hard to figure out what you will need so I would take everything possible.
 
Hey ken, do either of those parts trucks have power windows/locks? I'm doing a conversion on mine and realized I didn't grab 1 thing I need the day after the donor got crushed.

I'm in Dillsburg this week so I'd even come out and pull in myself.
 
Save basically the whole dana 28 specifically the axles if one has the same gear ratio as yours thats the one unless you want to change 4.10 works good for off road.If you can jockey into a limited slip that would be good.Power booster would be good master cylinder maybe.Any brake components that you keep cut the brake line and pinch it shut leave the fluid in it.Whatever you get rid of your going to need it just happens that way but you can only keep so much junk around.
 
Yeah, and you can't get them aftermarket.
