3.0L engine swap??

My son has a 1995 Ford Taurus that was wrecked and we just found a 1998 Ford Ranger 4x4 with a blown engine. Is it possible to replace the engine in the '98 Ranger with the engine from the '95 Taurus?

i believe the taurus has an efan and such it is def different. front wheel drive and such and the sensors might be different too. the best way is to look at the 2 engines and see the differences between them. welcome btw and have fun on the forum

You'd have to switch accessories at least, but THEORETICALLY it works. The coolant flow in the heads is different. For some useful info on the blocks and such, check "rebuilding the 3.0" in the tech library.

There should be almost no differences in the long blocks. You'll need the accessories, Taurus lower intake manifold, and FWD head gaskets.
