Timing cover gasket

Hey do i have to change the oil pan gasket when putting a new cover gasket and seal on? When i looked up the parts it says required but i dont want to pull the engine if i dont have to. I got the oil pan gasket when i got the intake and timing chain cover gasket set anyway so i have it just dont wana pull an engine in the snow. Any info would help thanks. BTW 2000 4.0

The questiion is... how bad of a cover to pan leak will you setle for? The way the gasket goes in there it is possible but not likely you might be able to get it sealed without taking the pan off.
Modern sealants get better evey few months.. There MAY BE a sealant that could do that sealing job...but I don't know what it is.

I was afraid of that . Well better start digging out the shed to get the cherry picker. Why do these things happen in the winter. Then again if it wasn't for bad luck i wouldn't have anything to bitch about.
