Sorry to post this again but I'm not very good at identifying parts and I can not find any engine diagrams or anything online...

I found this yesterday when changing my battery cable out and fixing my starter...I have been using oil and it looks like this is the culprit...

Whats it for and is it possible that it's leaking oil??

Part in question is the thing in the center of the picture...has the hose connected to it.

What is this???? Part 2

oil pressure sensor

Ok...well the gauge hasn't worked since I bought the truck back in like August so that would explain that.....is it likely this is where my leak is coming from seeing that it isn't working??? And I'm assuming I need to drain the oil to change it out? Never have replaced one...thanks for the help

I bet if you unscrew it, the engine will automatically drain to below that level ;)

no you do not have to drain the oil. i do recommend doing it while the engine is cold though because of tight spaces. you might loses some oil but not a lot

Ok thanks....now...the part that the sensor screws into...what if that is where it's leaking? Probably not likely...but let's just say it is....what would that be called?

That is like a PIPE.. It is simply an extension to get the sending unit away from the engine.. Many senders are too large to fit into a tight place.. Yours may be one of them.
