So i blew the 8.8 i had on my truck before and just got a new one put in from a buddys dad. He installed it but didnt run any lines to the brakes because he said the person i bought it from probably had it outside because all the drum brake internals were rusted. So my question is what parts do i need to replace to get the brakes working again so i can drive this damn thing again and how do i change everything??

Grab a repair manual for your model truck, I'd replace the wheel cylinders (cheap), and get a brake hardware kit (which is all the springs and mounting/locating tabs you need) and a set of new brake shoes, that'll pretty much rebuild the complete braking system on the rear...Have the drums checked, they might be able to be turned, otherwise buying them will be the most expensive parts of the rebuild

How much do you think it would cost to get the drums churned. Any way to maybe give me a price break down? Im broke as hell after getting this damn rearend and getting it installed so money is a little tight at the moment. Thanks

What about the stuff from your blown rear diff? Was it all shot too?

i still have the rearend in the bed of my truck with all the parts intact but im not sure if i wanted to use all the old parts from my diff. I know for a fact the shoes were shot on my diff but the drums were good i guess i could still use those.
