I was doing some digging, googling, etc the past few days.

I found this: http://www.streetfire.net/video/Ford-Ranger-30-V6-with_101556.htm

I was wondering where I can find a cam to sound like that in my truck.

I have to pull the front cover anyway to deal with a leak.

I am not really worried about power...but reliablity would be nice.

Any ideas?

That video is one of my favorites! That guy was a member on RPS for awhile. He never could get the truck running right for very long with that radical cam profile, because he kept shearing off the cam synchro.

As far as cam producers go, Camcraft, Deltacams, and Tom Morana all offer various regrinds. I'd suggest you talk to them and see what they recommend.

thats funny my 93 truck sounds like that factory with the cat removed, hot air intake, and a super 44 flomaster installed. it richens up to keep idling from lack of pressure and lopes down low if i let it idle for a bit. sounds like its about to die but it keeps running.

Thanks for the tips guys! I will check with TM and the others you mentioned. However mine will be a DD...so I probably won't go that radical.

Sure sounded good though.

Well, I'm not 100% convinced that truck in the video actually has a cam. It sounds suspiciously like a large vacuum leak to me.

Don't think so? Try it yourself, let your truck get up to temp, and then unhook the vacuum line that goes into the manifold right below the on the driver side. The truck will bog down a bit, and then if you walk around to the back of the truck it will sound just like that.

i kno what you mean my truck had leaks from hell and sounded like that. seriously tho with my cat removed it idles that low and the factory cam does hav a lil lope to it. the powerband in the 3.0 is rather high for factory (3k rpm) which means there is a lil power potential there. thats why the 1.7 (1.8 now available) roller rockers were recommeded with the factory cam to let it breath more with the factory cam profile.

The truck definitley had a cam. As I said, he was a member over on RPS. I've read a lot of his old posts doing research. I think his name over there was rangeredge02 or something similar.
