Ok do to a recent post of mine I changed my battery terminals. Now usually when I have the battery unhooked for 20 minutes or more it idles high for a bit untill it relearns where it should be then no problem. Now in park its at 1500 and in gear its at about 1200. I changed them out then went over and washed it and then went to get a movie and a pizza and its still idleing high, I didnt think it uaually took this long. The trips were short so maybe thats the reason, anyone have any ideas?

i believe autos idle higher but if it's cold it might not let it come down from high idle but 1500 does seem a bit high.

I had already been driving it for awhile before I changed the terminals out, it was plenty warm. Im leaving again hopefully it figures out what it needs to do.

check the throttle body for dirt and gum. sometimes the dirt keeps the throttle plate from closing all the way, and the computer re-learns the actual 1-3% value as 0% and adds IAC counts from there.

this also happens to the IAC itself. use a lint free cloth and some brake cleaner to wipe it all out. as for the IAC depending on how it receives air you can spray brake cleaner into it as the engine is running and maybe clean it out. you're not supposed to but i know you don't want to buy a new one, and it works
