I live in new jersey an due to the massive amouts of snow i borrowed to 33in bfg mts and put them on the rear of my ranger. When i engage the 4wd the truck klunks along and makes loud banging noise, but it goes away when i switch back to 2wd. are running 33s on the rear and 31s on the front doing damage?

:annoyed:

Yes, it's causing damage.

See, your transfer case wants to spin the front and rear axles at the same speed, but it can't when you have bigger tires on the back. A bigger tire takes less revolutions to go a certain distance than a smaller tire.

Either don't use 4x4 or get the same size tire on both the front and the rear.

+1

Using 4x4 with that setup is a ticket to a grenaded transfercase. Hopefully nothing is damaged...

Eh, we've all done some stupid shit. Some more than others (points at self). Least he came and asked instead of just running with it. Live and learn.
