stock bumper + winch =?

any ideas on mounting a winch behind the front bumper? its a stock 89 ex cab

i was thinking of welding up a front cross member and wleding a winch plate to the cross member, then slapping a cheap winch and putting the bumper back on. then getting one of those plate winch older that flips up.

i could see welding a crossmember behind the bumper that would hold the winch and just cutting out the front of the stock bumper for the fairlead, i havent done it but i think it could be done without to much headache....
