View Full Version : 5R55E, fixed yoke
I'm 3 linking a 04 Edge with a 5R55E. Is there a fixed yoke available? Maybe from a C4 or maybe the 4ALD if it had one? Is this trans based on and earlier one that might of had a fixed yoke?
Oh and where is the speed and shit tone ring on the 04's? I know the 8.8 has one but some years it's for the rear abs and some it's for everything. I'm hoping it's in the trans so I don't have to replicate that ring on the output of the trans.
thanks,
Tim

ummm, were there ANY 2wd trannys that had a fixed output ever? I know in the 4x4s the t-case has a fixed yoke on it. Every 2wd vehicle I've dealt with has had a slip shaft for the output.

hd 3500 had a captive yoke
thanks for the replies but I know what other tranny's have slip yokes and what don't. I want to know if the 5r55e was ever offered with a fixed yoke or if there are other trans that have the same output shaft that is fixed.

No it never was. Slip yoke only. In fact the only Ford fixed yoke design that comes to mind is Super Duty transfer case and 03 and newer Torqshift 2wd trans.
