rear axel

my rear axel is going on my 2000 ranger 4x4 is this a hard thing to replace yourself i found a used one for $350 and would like to save some dough doing it myself just wondering what is all involed in taking it out and putting back in any help would be appriciated

IF it's the same gear ratio (there are several), the only issues are handling the weight and bleeding the brakes. It's VERY straightforward. But a complete rear end does weigh quite a bit. You'll need appropriate jacks and/or jackstands and buddies.

it is as simple as unbolting the axle from the springs, unbolting the drive shaft, the brake line, and unplugging the rear ABS sensor.

its a good idea to put new brakes on the axle and to change the diff fluid too.

and shocks and sway bar.... oh and unbolt the u-bolts last
