Thinking about putting t-5 when I do the v8 swap.Has anyone done this and or is there a better tranny to use

Im working on the same issue.... i found some posts that say you can fad a bracket and bolt a slave cyl behind the clutch fork... and i wanna say most parts stores would let you look at a few that may fit better thats what i plan on doing. you may also beable to use a cable but i think that will be a pain.

There a couple of questions to ask yourself before picking a trans. What kind of power are you making? What tires will you run? How will you use the truck? How much do you want to spend?

A Z spec T5 can handle 450hp and can be had for around $1400 new. They can be built to handle well over 650hp for around $1800. A stock 5.0 trans can handle 350hp with no problems and if you are running street tires you aren't going to be able to get it to hook up enough to break a trans. You can pick that up for $800 or less used.

IMO the T5 is the best choice for that conversion because you can get them cheap and they fit. As far as a clutch goes you can get aftermarket hydralic clutches(master and slave sets...matched) for a couple hundred and you're good to go!
