new toy with a 302

this is my second ranger. 6 months ago i bought an 87 ranger stx 4x4 extended cab with a 302 and a 3 speed tranny. the motor has a mild cam and it has 2.5' true duals with glass packs. i have no idea what the motor came out of and it makes it a little hard to get parts for. id like to swap the tranny too but got no idea what will bolt up. the only other thing wrong with the truck is a busted coil spring tower.

Pictures and casting numbers would help. Block numbers are near the starter. Heads are inside the motor, but the 86-2001 heads can be Id'd with letters cast on the lower right front corner of the passenger side head. "S" is E6SE heads, "T" is E7TE heads, GT= GT40 heads, "P" is GT40P. The last two also have vertical bars cast into the ends of the heads. 2 & 3 bars is GT40, 4 bars is GT40P
