What is the best tool to use when trying to remove the mirror from the windshield? I have used a thin screwdriver, I even bent it so I could get a better angle to hold it and push up on the mirror mount. Also I have the whole harness for the OHC and Mirror wiring. I am going to try to install it intact. Are there holes along the top of the windshield to install the "Christmas Tree" wire harness holders or should I remove them before I install the harness? Thanks for your help.

I dont know about the mirror thing. For the christmas tree fasteners, I ended up removing them and running the wire through the canal between the two pieces of roof. If not it pushes the headliner down some and I didnt like the way it looked. You can run it through there withou cutting the harness, just takes a little working it.

There are not holes for the wire fasteners on top, you will have to remove them or drill the holes yourself. Either is fine, I didn't fasten my wires and they stay up there without any problems.

As for removing the mirror, the Expo I got mine out of already has a cracked windshield so I just yanked it off and bought a new button. The Dorman Help! 3 pack at most auto places has one that fits just fine. The "Proper" way I've read is to use a heat gun, which is pretty much impossible at a yard.

I'm sorry but I didn't explain my situation well. I need to remove the mirror from my vehicle so I can install the AutoDimming mirror. I don't want to break the windsheild, but I do need to get the mirror off.

I'd try that

I want to use the existing mount that is on the windshield, but the current mirror is being difficult when I try to remove it.

There should be a small metal clip or band running across the front of the mount on the mirror. Remove it with a small flat head screw driver from the side, it should pop off and allow the mirror to come off. If not. look to see from the front of the wind shield looking into the truck. You will see a metal tang on the mirror mount holding it in place. From the inside get a small flat head screw driver and pry the tang down (very little force required) and pull up towards the roof on the mirror this will release it.
