I sold my cap on craigslist. Now I'm want to get a cover for my ranger. I was thinking about building a flat hard cover out of wood so I could have stuff in the bed without having to worry about it getting wet.

Anyone ever done this before?

I have alot of fiber glass cloth and thick card board so i was going to use the card board to make a mold and then cover it with fiberglass ..

Have a go, a cover will cost at least $200 and that is for the cheap kind.

Post the pics if you do have a go - you will probably need to use wood though rather than cardboard

ive done a lot of fiberglass work...i worked in a lobster boat shop for a while. It is going to be REALLY hard to get the glass to lay flat enough, that when painted looks perfectly flat. If youre not a stickler on perfection, then go for it...

I have a 4' foot wide roll of fiber glass and i fix and build duck boats and never had problems getting the fiberglass to lay flat...

I've been wanting for years to get a 4x8 sheet of aluminum diamond plate, trim it down, weld in some gussets for strength and rails underneath to clamp it on. I think it would look awesome! but idk what aluminum diamond plate costs in sheets?? Ooooo it would be really cool if you already had a diamond plate tool box and made the cover to fit the rest of the bed.
