First Engine Swap

Hey all,
Just wondering what the best engine to swap into a 97 ranger 2dr stepside would be. I want to swap in the 5.0 out of an 80's mustang, but am not sure if this would be the best course of action. Additionally, I need a rough guideline of what I would need to do the swap.

Well depends on the year in the 80's you get it from and the car. The 80's werent the best years for the 5.0. In those years the combustion chambers were larger, the blocks were thinner cast, etc. Just because its out of a Mustang doesnt mean its a bad ass engine, as a matter of fact it could have had the dog shit ran out of it comming out of a Mustang.

Read other threads of what people have done and go from there.
 
Thanks for the advice. I still kind of want to do the 5.0 swap from the mustang, just because there is a large selection of parts that I could use. My major issue with the other engines I have read about and have seen is that I live in Canada, and I have no clue as to where to get any of the engines.
