So here is what I have:
1997 Ford Explorer V8
-I am pretty sure the tranny is slipping.
1998 Ford Ranger
-Everything is pretty good on it

The plan is to make the two vehicles become one hopefully over the summer, but we will see when I find this valuable time. I am having issues determining what to do and have two options mainly cost being the main factor.

I have been researching off and on for about a year now and this is what I came up with.

A) V8 with a working 4R70W (explorer trans) from a junkyard attached to a 4406 T-Case. I do not know about the driveshaft modifications that will be needed in this option.

B) V8 with a working 4R70W (explorer trans) from a junkyard adapted to the original T-Case in the ranger. The only issue here is the adapter is on the pricey side.

The truck is my DD for now, but I wheel a little with it, nothing hardcore. I have 31 BFG’s on it. I am trying to make this swap reliable. Looking around I found a 4R70 for 250 and a 4406 for 200 (I do not know about the linkages). Any recommendations? I am spending the next 3-4 months determining what to do while I wait for the snow to melt. Then the next month or so rebuilding the engine. Any recommendations on rebuilding the engine as well?

stock bottom end on the 5.0 ho are very strong for about 500 hp , turn the crank new breaing , recon the rods , new pistons , a bore if needed ....hpyertenic preferred . they 20 percent stronger than stock , plus good for 75 -100 shot of nos
