I used to research and ask about fitting tires on my 96 ranger single 2wd. its also a 4 cyl with 3.73 gears.

People said ill ned 4.10 gears, at least a 2-4 inch lift etc. etc. WEELLL, I went against everything i was told and slapped on some 33" Procomp M/T's on Mustang Cobra rims.

You dont need a lift, fiberglass fenders are much easier to install and does the job right.

Suspension travel isn't amazing, but its a stock suspension (good for daily driving)

Im my case, the backspacing is a bit close so at full turning radius, itll rub a little, but with the right rims, turning is perfect.

Stock gears (3.73:1) are perfectly fine. You can cruise at low rpm's going at a good speed. Accelerating just isnt the best compared to the stock wheels. (remember i have 2.3l)

Ride is a bit rougher, but I love it.

Here is how it looks. If you guys want it a bit higher for your own liking, go right ahead and get some stock spacers to give it 2 inches higher.

It works and you wont have to buy the lift beams or any extremely pricey product. The fenders are a bit of $$$, but nothing compared to the suspension kits.

Oh and the tires migt look close to the bumper, but it never ever touches the bumper at all.

Any questions? :icon_thumby:

Looks good bro. i would do the bed side flairs to match the front. but still looks good. :icon_cheers:

i had a friend that put 33's on a stock 2wd ranger. he had the 2.5 and it had 4.10s. i ran 35's with 3.23 gears so anything is possible.

Even if it doesn't rub I'd trim the bumper anyway or install aftermarket. Most definetly get wheels with less back spacing Black steel fake bead locks would look good (they make them in 17" now) and flare the rear bed sides

I like it! I do agree that it'd look even better with the front bumper and the fender well lined up, but thats just a detail that some people go anal over sometimes, just like the whole regearing thing, if you don't go too extreme (i.e. 36"+) then I honestly don't see the need for it..unless you want it to accelerate like a ricer.
