2.9 5 spd tranny problems

will a m5od tranny that came off a 2.3l ranger fit on a 2.9l ranger the bellhousing looks the same but idk if the splines will mate up
and on a more differant note dose anyone know where i could find replacement body peices for a ranger GT
any help would be appreciated

I don't know how you can say how that the bellhousing looks the same.

The 2.9 starter is on the drivers side, the 2.3 on the passenger side.
The 2.9 starter has two bolts, the 2.3 has three bolts

And all but two of the 2.3 bellhousing bolts come through the engine block "head forward"
ALL of the 2.9 bellhousing bolts go in from the back.
