can i swap a 2.5 into a 92 ranger with a 2.3???? is there site that list parts interchange for engine and body parts???

have not seen it interchanged personally but the crank/rods and pistons can be changed from a 2.5 into a 2.3 engine. the blocks are the same and im going to build a 2.5 for my 92 2.3 and do a swap (less downtime) myself. only thing i can see causing an issue would be the fact that the 2.5 is an obd2 engine and the 92 2.3 is an obd1 engine. you would have to use all the 2.3 sensors etc in the 92 and tune it out somehow or rob all the wiring/sensors/computer etc out of a 2.5 and install into your 92 truck.

here is my plan -crank and rods from used 2.5L 1998-01 ranger, block from 1989 -later 2.3 (same journal size as 2.5L and has a better oil pan gasket design) .040" overbore flat top pistons- this will produce a 2.55L stroker that will bolt to your head and wiring and intake. 2.5L block has NO hole for distributor-DIS only.I have not pinned down which oil pump to use yet but i will know by monday night.I am putting this together for my 2.3L 1986 4x4 .have found a little hotter cam and will port match head and do a 3 angle valve job -she should put 140 hp to the ground!!!

BUMP, any more input on this idea i gota steal this thread,
I have a 2.3 193k that's going out and i have a 2.5 that runs well with 150k now whats the easiest way to use this 2.5 without a lot of downtime, its my dd.
