HELP :same dash sound as my 96 now in my 07

i hope some one can help me figure out this dash noise i have had in my old 96 and now in my 07. it sounds like a vent door opening and closing everytime i take off from a stop and also sudden stops. the little thump clunk sound comes from under drivers side of dash around the speedo cluster. sounds like a vent door is flapping.is thier a vent door aound that area under the dash or something that could of come un hooked.or how about in the cowl area behind hood,could something be loose in thier.

That's odd, haven't heard anyone else have this problem to date. Do the vents work properly? Do they default over to defrost when you aren't on defrost and then go back? Since these are controlled by vacuum, I thought maybe you would be having a problem with that because it happens on every stop- you'd lose vacuum when you started up and it would default over to defrost then flop back after you backed off the gas. Also odd it would happen on the driver's side. I'd take the gauge cluster out and drive it so you could hear better and try to see whats going on back there.

Hmm. Two trucks, two years, 1 driver, 1 problem, same conditions. By Ford's diagnostic process of elimination, you are crazy.

No, I kid. That is an odd problem that I have never heard of though. Ford doesn't have any service messages about it. It would be really helpful if I could hear it for myself. Noises are one of the things that I'm awesome at, and I can usually track them down faster than most of the guys I work with.
